In collaboration with INTECSA as the client, SSE MENA successfully completed comprehensive electrical testing and commissioning for the SAP U Project at the Jorf Lasfar OCP Complex in Morocco. Our scope of work included advanced testing on MV & LV Switchgear, Power Transformers, Motors, VSDs, UPS, DC Systems, and Emergency Diesel Generators (EDG). These efforts were essential to ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and reliability of key systems.

What We Delivered

SSE MENA performed specialized electrical testing on the following systems:

1. MV & LV Switchgear

  • Relay protection testing, Secondary and Primary Injection
  • Contact Resistance and Hi-Pot Testing
  • Functional Testing, Communication with SCADA
  • MTS/ATS Testing, CT & VT Testing
  • Signal testing to DCS

2. Power Transformers Testing

  • Power Factor/Dissipation Factor (Tan Delta)
  • Transformer Turn Ratio Test, Polarity, Connection Group
  • Transformer Excitation Current Test
  • Winding Resistance Test (Static and Dynamic)
  • Short Circuit Test
  • Insulation Resistance and Polarization Index Test
  • Frequency Response Analysis (FRA)
  • Analysis of Electrical, Chemical, and Physical Parameters of Transformer Oil
  • Dissolved Gas Analysis for Transformer Oil
  • Cable Tightness Check with Torque Wrench
  • Inspection of Accessories & Protection System
  • On Load Tap Changer (OLTC) Verification
  • Motor Run Tests (Insulation Resistance, Winding Resistance, Motor Start/Run Current)

3. MV & LV Motors

  • Tightness of Connections Check
  • Insulation Resistance and Winding Resistance Tests
  • Run Test (Direction of Rotation, Uncoupled/Coupled Measurements of Current, Voltage)

4. MV & LV Variable Speed Drives (VSD)

  • Settings and Logic Configuration as per Vendor Documentation
  • Functional Testing

5. UPS System

  • Testing and Commissioning according to Vendor Procedures
  • Battery Charge/Discharge Cycle Testing

6. DC System

  • Testing and Commissioning according to Vendor Procedures
  • Battery Charge/Discharge Cycle Testing

7. Emergency Diesel Generators (EDG)

  • Vendor Assistance during Pre-commissioning and Commissioning
