SSE MENA is actively involved in a critical project in Agadir, where we are conducting essential testing and commissioning for HT MT Transformers, HT Circuit Breakers, and Relay Protection Systems. This project is part of a larger effort to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable power distribution for Aman El Baraka (Grupo Cox).

Key Activities:

  1. HT MT Transformer Testing:
    We are ensuring the optimal performance of the HT MT transformers by conducting various tests to verify energy transfer efficiency, including:

    • Transformation Ratio Measurement: To verify the voltage transformation capabilities.
    • Winding Resistance Tests: To assess primary and secondary winding resistance.
    • Short-Circuit Impedance and FRSL: Ensuring safe operational limits and effective fault response.
    • Capacitance and Dissipation Factors: Testing of bushings and windings to ensure reliability.
    • Insulation Resistance: Checking the integrity of windings and protection systems.
    • Functional Tests of Protection Devices and Cooling Systems: Ensuring that all internal systems work as expected under load conditions.
  2. HT Circuit Breaker Testing:
    We’re reinforcing the circuit breaker systems that protect the infrastructure by conducting the following critical tests:

    • Opening and Closing Time Measurements: Ensuring timely operations of each pole.
    • Peak Current Measurements: For the opening/closing coils to confirm accurate performance.
    • Contact Resistance: Checking each pole for optimal conductivity and protection.
    • Circuit Breaker Insulation: Ensuring the insulation meets safety standards.
    • Inrush Current and Spring Mechanism Charging Time: Verifying that the spring mechanisms charge within the expected time frame.
  3. Relay Protection Testing:
    To ensure the safety and reliability of the system, our team is performing:

    • Relay Settings and Functionality Checks: Verifying the calibration and operation of relays.
    • Primary and Secondary Injection Tests: Confirming the proper functioning of relay systems.
    • Coordination and Time Delay Assessments: Ensuring proper coordination between protection devices.
    • Tripping and Alarm Circuit Tests: Ensuring that alarms and trip mechanisms function during fault conditions.
